Our home hygiene tips
Protecting your family’s health has to be your main priority, but now you can also take small steps to do your bit to protect the planet’s health, whilst looking after your family.
Washing your hands
- When washing your hands with soap, you can turn the tap off until you are ready to rinse them. It may not feel like you are doing much, but we’ve calculated that this could save the average household at least 7000 litres of water per year (*).
(*) Here's how we've calculated the saving:
- One hand wash = 20 seconds of running water = 5 litres of water.
- We know that most people Wash their hands 5 times a day = 25 litres of water per day.
- A 75% reduction on this = 18.75 litres saved per day.
- Per year this is 365 days x 18.75 litres of saved water per day = 6843.75 litres of saved water per person per year.
- This is just based on ONE person only in the household, just think how much water you would save if EVERYONE did it!
